Mobilizing Sports Leaders to Stand Against Hate
The historic meeting included Rob Manfred, Major League Baseball (MLB), Don Garber, Major League Soccer (MLS), Adam Silver, National Basketball Association (NBA), Cathy Engelbert, Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), Roger Goodell, National Football League (NFL), Gary Bettman, National Hockey League (NHL), Jessica Berman, National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Steve Phelps, President of NASCAR.
Following this meeting, several of the sports leagues and events pledged to make combatting antisemitism and hate a priority in their organizations. This was done through activations across social channels and at the 2024 NBA All-Star game, Daytona 500, NFL Combine, MLB’s Opening Day and the NFL Draft.
In addition to this, these organizations held staff training on antisemitism in the workplace, distributed Blue Square pins, and created internal resources and learning opportunities for their employees.
